“that little airport that nobody knows about”

6thDec. × ’09

That Little Airport That Nobody Knows About is a little book about, well, a little airport. The Cable Airport located in Upland, California was of interest to me for a school project in an advanced graphics course. Special thanks to the Stewart family, Maniac Mike, the Cable Family, the Upland Public Library and Brad Bartlett for all his guidance.

The book includes photographs taken with my Diana+ and Holga cameras using 120 medium format film, typographic explorations using pilot vernacular to break down chapters of the book, a history of the location, a brief interview with cafe owner and Cable Airport co-owner Maniac Mike, first hand accounts of flights and flying lessons from people’s journals & blogs, as well as photographs by a young first time flier.
